How to Set Up a Business Account on Instagram

Instagram Business profiles are here, do you have one?

Since its inception, Instagram has always been a social sharing app through visual content (Photos, Videos, LiveStreams, Daily Updates, and more). Businesses are starting to take notice, and here’s why you should too as a business owner! We already know that Business accounts have access to exclusive features such as Scheduling Instagram Posts, gaining access to Instagram Insights, and even running Online Advertisements through Promoted Posts.

Instagram Business accounts are exactly for those: Businesses! Have you started an E-Commerce store but need an extra marketplace? Feature a Shoppable Post, and have your loyal and dedicated Instagram followers funnel to your shop!

Is your “Link In Bio” constantly changing, leaving no static option for your followers to book your services? Does your LinkTree look like a jumbled mess and a bit unorganized for your followers to get all the information they need instantly? What if you’re a restaurant and you want your followers to have a one-click solution to place or order? Add a Call to Action (CTA) button in your profile! With your business profile, you can have access to place a permanent button that allows profile viewers to Order Food, Book a Consultation, or even Reserve a Table at your restaurant!

Here’s How to Set Up an Instagram Business Account:

  1. Head to your Instagram Profile Page by clicking on your profile in the bottom right hand corner.

  2. Tap the hamburger in the upper right corner.

  3. Tap Settings.

  4. Tap Account.

  5. Tap Switch to Professional Account.

  6. Tap Continue.

  7. Select a Category for your business and tap Done.

  8. Tap OK to confirm.

  9. Tap Business.

  10. Tap Next.

  11. Add Contact details and tap Next. Or tap Don’t use my contact info to skip this step.

  12. If you'd like, you can follow the steps to connect your business account to a Facebook Page associated with your business.

  13. Tap X on the top right corner to return to your profile.

  14. You’re all Done!

Note: Step 12 is an optional step when creating your account, but is highly recommended if you would like to use all Business features across all of Facebook (Meta’s) Apps such as:

  • Scheduling Posts in advance

  • Responding to Instagram Comments from Meta Business Suite

  • Cross-posting between Instagram and Facebook Pages

  • Much much more!

You also have the option to display or hide your business category and contact information on your profile. After setting up, go to your profile and tap Edit Profile. Go to Profile Display under Public Business Information to choose whether you want to hide or display your category label and contact info. Then, tap Done.

Now your profile is all set up for you to start promoting your business!
